Pillar 2: Residential aged care services and sustainability
More than 240,000 senior Australians live in residential aged care. Another 67,000 access residential respite care each year.
The aged care reforms will make residential services – and access to them – better and simpler. The Australian Government is investing $7.8 billion over 5 years to do this. Changes will include:
- more clinical care time from trained staff
- care that is tailored and responsive to each individual’s needs
- higher quality of care, with a monthly statement to be provided to residents and families
- sustainable services that can deliver care in the long term.
