Building a connected aged care system

The Aged Care Data and Digital Strategy 2024-2029 focuses on innovation and technology to improve aged care while keeping face-to-face options available.

The five-year strategy puts the needs of older people first and sets the direction for what we want to achieve. We want providers to spend more time providing care and less time on reporting and administration.

The companion document for the Strategy is called the Action Plan. We will update this once a year to include a list of the specific actions we are taking. You can read the Action Plan to find out what is already happening.

We consulted extensively to put this strategy together and heard that older people want:

  • the option to choose face-to-face and we are committed to maintain choice
  • the aged care and health systems to be connected so people only have to tell us their story once
  • the commitment that personal data and privacy are safe.

We incorporated all feedback into the strategy and are collaborating across the aged care sector to develop concrete actions that meet your needs.
