Act now for a dementia-friendly future

A blue poster for Dementia Action Week 2024, with the text "Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future" and dates "16-22 September 2024." The Dementia Australia logo is at the bottom right.

This week (16 - 22 September 2024) is Dementia Action Week.

Dementia is a significant health issue and is not a normal part of getting older. It's likely we'll all be touched by dementia - either through a family member, neighbour, friend or colleague. Dementia generally affects your mood, memory, thinking and behaviour.

In Australia, more than 421,000 people live with dementia.

There's currently no known cure for dementia which is why it's so important to create dementia-friendly communities, helping people feel understood and included.

Get involved

Dementia Australia supports community groups to run initiatives in their local areas. Check to see if your local area is hosting an event.
