It’s Aged Care Employee Day

Aged Care Employee Day, celebrated on 7 August, is a chance to say #ThanksforCaring to the more than 500,000 aged care employees who work tirelessly to support over 1.5 million older people receiving care in Australia.

Stepping up, providing respectful care, and doing a job that truly matters, is something to be admired and celebrated.

To ensure the aged care workforce is supported and continues to grow:

  • we have already delivered a 15% award wage increase for aged care nurses and personal care workers, following the Fair Work Commission's interim decision in 2022

  • we have also committed to supporting the Fair Work Commission's recent decision for further award wage increases to benefit many aged care workers, including laundry hands, cleaners and food service assistants who are also integral to aged care.
