Information about the new Aged Care Act

The new Aged Care Act will start from 1 July 2025.

To help you understand what this means for you, updated fact sheets are now available:

  • a plain language summary, available in English, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese
  • an Easy Read summary
  • a summary of the changes made to the Act by Members of Parliament before it was approved as law.

The new Act will address the challenges facing aged care in Australia and puts the rights and needs of older people at the centre of our new aged care system.
