Home Care Package subsidy increasing to pass on wage rise

A healthcare worker measuring the blood pressure of an elderly woman in a residential setting.

We are increasing the Home Care Package subsidy by 0.93% on 1 January 2025. This is to cover the Fair Work Commission's decision to increase wages for some aged care workers.

You will continue to receive the same service and hours of care as before. However, some providers will need to adjust their prices to cover the increased wages. They are required to pass on the wage rise to their workers.

Your provider may ask you to agree to a reasonable price increase and update your Home Care Agreement.

If you don't agree to the price increase, it may make it harder for your provider to keep giving you care.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can:

  • talk to your provider and discuss any proposed changes
  • contact the Older Persons Advocacy Network for information about your rights and to seek support.

We have sent a letter to all care recipients about the funding increases as well as some information about the new Support at Home program.

For more information, read our care recipient fact sheet.
