Making medicine cheaper

Information about cheaper medicines through PBS

On 1 January, we introduced a freeze on the maximum patient cost of Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS) medicines.

This means the maximum cost of your prescription medicines won't increase this year, and if you have a concession card, the cost will stay the same for 5 years.

Along with 60-day prescriptions, this means:

  • savings on your prescriptions
  • fewer trips to the pharmacy
  • fewer appointments with your doctor for refills

Let's change aged care, together

Every Australian should feel confident about accessing high quality and safe aged care, when and where they need it.

The changes mean Older people will have greater choice and control, services that respect and meet their needs, and support to stay independent as they age.

To find out more and help design the changes, visit the Get Involved page or call 1800 318 209.
