New members for the Aged Care Council of Elders

New members announced for the Aged Care Council of Elders

Last month, the Aged Care Council of Elders started a new term and welcomed 4 new members. They join Chair Anne Burgess and 8 returning members.

The Council of Elders engage with older people across Australia and listen to their views about the changes to aged care.

Members provide advice to Government about what matters to people when it comes to ageing and the aged care system.

The Australian Government appointed the 13 members of the Council for their diverse lived experiences and geographic perspectives. They have strong connections in their communities and lived experience of aged care.

New members joining the council are:

  • Dr Ponniah Anandajayasekeram PhD (Dr Ananda)
  • Russell Westacott
  • William (Uncle Benny) Hodges
  • Associate Professor John Cullen

Returning members are:

  • Dr John Davis

  • Aunty Lyn Cullinane
