Share your thoughts: Residents’ Experience Survey

Information about the 2025 Residents’ Experience Survey

People living in aged care homes will soon have the chance to share their thoughts in the 2025 Residents' Experience Survey.

This annual survey gives people in aged care homes a chance to share feedback on the care they receive.

Participants are randomly selected and invited to participate. All responses are anonymous and no identifying information is shared with providers or the Australian Government.

You can have a family member or friend with you for support if you are participating. The survey team can arrange interpreters and other help.

The survey team is trained and experienced in engaging with people from diverse backgrounds including:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • culturally and linguistically diverse people
  • veterans
  • care leavers
  • LGBTIQ+ people
  • those living with disability
  • people who have experienced homelessness and forced adoption.

As a participant, you will be asked 14 questions about things like food, staff, how you're treated, what's good and how things could be better.

Your answers will be combined with others and used to create a report for your aged care home. This report helps aged care providers understand what they're doing well and what needs improvement.

The results will inform the 'Residents' Experience' part of the aged care Star Ratings and contribute 33% to an aged care home's overall rating. You can view an aged care home's star ratings using the 'Find a Provider' tool on the My Aged Care website.
