Further information

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care wants to hear from you about infection prevention and control (IPC) guidance for aged care.

There is a draft guide to help support aged care providers to practice effective IPC.

The guide is based on existing healthcare guidelines and has been adapted for residential and community aged care services.

Topics include:

  • IPC systems in aged care
  • risk assessment
  • standard and transmission-based precautions
  • safely conducting and managing procedures and invasive devices
  • environmental sustainability
  • staff health and safety
  • infection monitoring
  • antimicrobial stewardship.

Complete the online survey to have your feedback considered in the final guide.
